The 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan has grown in popularity due to its attractive appearance, impressive performance, and numerous standard features. Volkswagen is preparing for its third crossover facelift, set to hit showrooms in 2024 after a six-year hiatus.

Volkswagen’s Tiguan, a three-centimeter longer car, shares similarities with its predecessor in height, width, and wheelbase.

Overview:

The rear seat backrests increase cargo space by 37 liters to 652 liters when the slightly enlarged footprint is loaded.

The SUV has softer corners than before, and the front end features a new IQ. LED headlights with an HD matrix feature headlamp clusters with a base notch and a closed-off grille, likely lit.

The front bumper features a wide-width black panel with horizontal slats and vertical air curtains, containing one of the two lower intakes.

The second lower intake is located at the bottom border of the bumper, which creates the all-around body covering. The back features full-width taillights with an intricate light signature and a massive black trim piece on the bumper.

2024 Volkswagen Tiguan: What has changed?

The Tiguan and any other VW with an automatic transmission will receive the automaker’s IQ in 2024. As standard equipment, there is a drive system. IQ was previously only available as an option on the base S trim and as a standard on later trims.

The drive system employs active lane departure steering assistance, adaptive cruise control, forward collision alert, and automated emergency braking. These ensure vehicle lane control and safe distance.

The system monitors your blind area, and alerts you. Not only that, it applies corrective steering if you attempt to change lanes and collide with another driver.

Furthermore, the Tiguan’s Emergency Assist system, activates when the driver becomes unresponsive. This feature ensures a controlled stop within its lane, activates hazard lights, and contacts VW roadside assistance.

The 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan offers five years of free services, including automatic accident alerts, theft reporting, and alarm alerts for the owner.

The 2017 model year introduced several features to the S trim, including an auto-dimming rearview mirror, an imitation-leather-trimmed steering wheel, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Otherwise, the Tiguan remains virtually unchanged.

2024 Volkswagen Tiguan: Swoopier style

The new Tiguan’s rear look will be an evolution rather than a revolution. The LED taillights fits into a single trim piece, while the traditional back glass remains the same, avoiding the coupe-SUV trend.

The rear bumper retains the outgoing Tiguan’s characteristic full-width reflector. It’s unclear whether the faux tailpipe trim will still be in the final production vehicle.

The redesigned Tiguan has dimensions of 4,551 mm (179.2 inches), 1,939 mm (76.3 inches), and 1,640 mm (64.6 inches). It has a 2,681 mm (105.5 inch) wheelbase.

The Tiguan model, which is 32mm longer and 5mm higher than the current model, maintains the same width and axle distance.

2024 Volkswagen Tiguan: High-tech Interior Design:

Volkswagen prioritized interior design for the new Tiguan, revealing it in pre-production form without any camouflage. The big 15-inch touchscreen entertainment system borrowed from the ID.7 protrudes from the dashboard in a noticeable manner.

Hopefully, the 12.9-inch unit meant for cheaper trims will be more easily integrated into the interior design. A smaller digital instrument cluster and a head-up display also contribute to the overall digital cockpit experience.

According to the carmaker, designers worked hard to improve the interface’s usability based on user input. The touchscreen now features lighted sliders and shortcuts, despite retaining climate settings, aiming to enhance the user experience.

The center console now features a new rotary control with an integrated display, adding a physical element to the interaction. In response to consumer concerns, Volkswagen has changed the steering wheel to delete the disputed touch-sensitive controls.

In comparison to its predecessor, the new VW Tiguan will have a more spacious cabin. The rear passengers will receive 10mm more headroom, and the boot capacity has been increased to 648 liters, a 33-liter increase from the previous model.

The vehicle provides optional ergoActive seats for the driver and front passenger, offering heating, ventilation, lumbar support adjustment, and a 10-chamber massage function.

Volkswagen emphasizes the use of premium materials in the cabin and the built-in storage options in the center console.

2024 Volkswagen Tiguan: Powertrains and Platforms

Volkswagen’s 2017 Tiguan, a popular vehicle, is built on the updated MQB Evo platform, a common platform for other VW Group products.

The 1.5-liter TSI gasoline engine, combined with electric motors, offers a hybrid solution with a 201 hp range and 268 hp with AWD.

The 4Motion all-wheel-drive system is expected to be limited to the highest grades.

Improved Underpinnings and a Brand-New PHEV Model

Volkswagen has revealed that the 2024 Tiguan will be powered by the upgraded MQB EVO platform, ensuring seamless integration of advanced technology components.

The vehicle will feature an active suspension control system, electronic differential locks, and enhanced shock absorbers, similar to the Golf GTI.

The revamp will feature a major feature: a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model with an anticipated 62-mile all-electric driving range.

The Tiguan is set to introduce hybrid grades, featuring turbocharged AC and DC charging options and potential engine options like turbodiesel, gasoline, or mild hybrid. It’s uncertain whether all of them will be available in the US.

Summary

Finally, Volkswagen’s Tiguan, a European SUV, has been popular in the United States since its 2019 debut, showcasing its competitive edge and European flair. In stark contrast to other compact SUVs on the market, the Tiguan has third-row seating. The Tiguan is a luxurious SUV with a classy interior, responsive driving, and ample cargo and passenger space.
